In its final form, StOrMoDB will represent a highly-integrated bioinformatic platform, including a data base, a lab e-notebook and supporting tools for molecular modelling.
This platform will provide researchers involved in biomedical and pharmaceutical projects with tools specifically targeted at easing and supporting development of diagnostic or pharmaceutical applications from natural products.
The data base and associated computational tools are intended to assist researchers both in purification / identification / characterization steps of new natural products, by a real-time
comparison of determined experimental data with those archived for known compounds, and in the identification of structure-activity relationships for archived natural products and / or their synthetic derivatives.
The data base integrates different kind of experimental data (chemical, chemico-physical, spectroscopic, synthetic pathways, use and occurrence in nature, biomedical and pharmacological properties, related known 3D structures),
with parameters for computational characterization / design of natural product derivatives and / or complexes with biomacromolecules.
